About Me

Bremen, Germany
Once upon a time there lived a biology student who thought she wanted to go to med school. One day, with only a year of college left, she realized that medical school was not, in fact, her dream.

"Whatever will I do?" thought the biology student to herself. And thus began her journey of self reflection. She searched hi and she searched low and then she stumbled upon information about the field of "public health."

The biology student was so excited about this new-found interest that she applied for (and eventually won) a scholarship to fly across the ocean to the fairytale land of Bremen, Germany where she studie Public Health for a year. There she was introduced to a different way of addressing health and health systems and it fascinated her. This confirmed her passion for public health.

Upon returning to the united states, the biology student applied to schools to become a Master of Public Health. When Boston said "Yes," the biology student packed up her life and soon-to-be husband and they drove across the land to the east coast. There the two live and make their home while the biology-student-turned-public-health-student studies and studies and shares whatever she can with whomever will listen.

Now seriously:
I'm going into my last semester as a student of public health at Boston University. My main concentration is Maternal and Child Health, within which I'm interested in reproductive health as well as fitness, nutrition and exercise. My course of study has also given me a strong background in epidemiology.

In my spare time I swim and compete with the Boston University Masters Swimmers (the BUMS), read, cook and watch movies that my husband says I must see.

I'm also a sucker for doing crazy things for charity...like using the internet to raise over $2000 for a girls' orphanage in Kenya, or swimming 10 miles to raise money and awareness for an organization that promotes exercise as a way to mediate chronic disease.
